Karachi Political Diary

 Karachi Political Diary

Mubasher Mir

August 5 has been observed as "Kashmir Exploitation Day" in reference to Kashmir and this day has been declared as Black Day. On August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government announced the complete abrogation of the constitutional semi-autonomy granted to indian Held Kashmir in 1949, and the President of India issued it with his signature, passed by Parliament. It was totally rejected by the people of Occupied Kashmir Valley and Pakistan declared it as a black day. India has imposed presidential rule in Kashmir for the past five years, before which governor's rule and puppet government were established. In Occupied Kashmir, state elections were held in 2014 in which the turnout was very low.

The Supreme Court of India has set a deadline to hold state assembly elections by 30 September 2024. Occupied Kashmir Assembly has 90 seats. The Indian government wants permanent possession of Kashmir because the land of Kashmir is a source of water. The rivers flowing in Pakistan and India pass through Kashmir. Therefore, the importance of Kashmir is very high.
From 1947 to 2024, India imposed Governor's rule, President's rule and created puppet governments in the occupied valley several times. From 1947 to 1965 Occupied Kashmir maintained its independent status but was later amended and the Chief Executive of Occupied Kashmir was made the Chief Minister. Pakistan has restored the independent status of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan is fighting the case of Kashmir but this case can be stronger if the system of justice and justice should be established in a better way within Pakistan as well. If the democracy in Pakistan is strong, then in international community, Pakistan can fight the case of Kashmir with more moral courage. Election results in Pakistan has  not  been accepted to political parties  and power corridors . Weak governments find it difficult to express their better foreign policy on the world stage. Currently there is economic instability in Pakistan, while politically the situation is not under control. In such a situation, it does not seem possible to keep all the political parties united on one platform on Kashmir. The Kashmir Committee of the Parliament was also established, but the performance of this committee is still questionable. In the past, India has cheated the Pakistani leadership in the name of dialogue and gained benefits for itself. Now, if it is the turn of negotiations with India, the Pakistani leadership will have to make very wise decisions.
At this time, the people of Pakistan are fighting for their rights. The contracts with the IPPs were awarded by the governments of Pakistan, which put chains on the feet of the industry and domestic consumers. It is futile to expect the leadership of a country whose leadership has a history of making cruel deals to purchase power from power producers that are involved in restricting the development of their own country and nation. We should  support the Kashmiris in the war on a sincere basis but unfortunately, present rulers of Pakistan is not capable to support the Kashmir cause. Now Kashmiris also believe in fighting their own war.
Protests are also going on in Gwadar, but meanwhile the Gwadar International Airport has been completed and its official inauguration is expected on Independence Day. Whatever the nature of Pakistan's relations with other countries, the relations with China are of a completely different nature. Despite the ups and downs and difficulties in the situation, China and Pakistan are working together. Gwadar city will be a big city of future, where infrastructure is being completed rapidly. After the seaport, the construction of the international airport is a milestone, along with the need for a railway network to connect the Gwadar port with the country's railway network. Since now port has no  railway link, port operations remain incomplete, Pakistan Railways should work in this regard.
Monsoon has also started in Sindh province, heavy rains have occurred in many areas in the city of Karachi, although no damage has been reported, but there have been reports of standing water in many places. Apart from the city of Karachi, power outages continue in many districts, due to which other commercial activities have also come to a standstill.
A massive rainfall has not yet been recorded, but the hardships of the citizens have already begun. The provincial government makes noise about its preparation throughout the year, but when it rains, the preparation pool opens. Small lakes and wells should be dug to save the rain water from getting lost, the rain water can be used for irrigation and will help in reforestation across the province.
